Your own uploads never count toward the download limit. Temporary links work on both plans, but only Pro can put a password on one.
Billing questions
- Can I cancel any time?
Yes. In the app, go to Settings → Plan and manage the subscription in Paddle's customer portal. Pro stays on until the end of the period you paid for, then the account moves to Free.
- Is VAT included?
Yes. The prices you see include VAT, and that's what you pay. Paddle's invoice shows how much of it is tax.
- Who takes the payment?
Paddle.com, our reseller and merchant of record. Paddle takes the payment, charges VAT, sends the invoice and answers billing questions. We never see your card details.
- What happens when Pro ends?
Nothing is deleted. If your shelf holds more than Free allows, you can't upload new videos until you free up space, but everything already there stays and plays. Downloads go back to the Free limits, and the trash keeps deleted videos for 30 days. A hidden page becomes visible to everyone again, and anonymous links to your shelf stop opening. The editor switches off, and videos you already edited stay as they are. Temporary links you've already made keep working until their time runs out.
- What if a payment fails?
Pro stays on for up to 7 days while you update your payment method in Settings → Plan. If the payment still hasn't gone through by then, the account moves to Free. Once a payment succeeds, Pro comes back.
- Can I get a refund?
Refunds go through Paddle. If you're a consumer in the EU or the UK, you can withdraw within 14 days of buying, as Paddle's buyer terms describe. Otherwise, cancelling stops the next renewal, and Pro runs until the end of the paid period.
- Is there a plan for my own server?
No, and it doesn't need one. A self-hosted tapeshelf has no plans and no payments, and no size limits unless you set them. The video editor, the hidden page, passwords on temporary links and anonymous links are there for everyone. See self-hosting.
