Your videos aren't material for someone else's feed. On tapeshelf nobody runs ads on them, nothing is recommended to anyone, and people see a video because you showed it to them.
No ads, on any plan
There are no ads before, during or next to your videos, on the free plan too. tapeshelf is paid for by Pro subscriptions, so it has no reason to sell anyone's attention.
No feed, no recommendations
There's no home feed and no trending list, and nobody picks the next video for you. Your shelf is a page of your videos in the order you put them, sorted into categories and stacks.
Not in search engines
Shelves and video pages are closed to Google and other search engines. People reach your shelf through a link you gave them or through friend lists.
Private by default
Every upload starts private. Make a video public when anyone with the link may watch it, or share it with a temporary link, on request or in a trade. Private video sharing
A collection you arrange yourself
Sort videos into categories, each with its own rows and tile size, drop one onto another to make a stack, put everything in the order you want and pick covers. Videos you received can go by your own names, and hidden videos are seen by you alone. On Pro there's a video editor for crop, cuts, blur, timers, captions and sound. And the free tapeshelf browser extension saves videos from other sites straight to your shelf.
Friends, messages and trades
Follow people, and when they follow you back you're friends: you can message each other and send videos right in the chat. New videos from the people you follow show up in “What's new”. And any private video can be asked for or traded one for one. How trades work

Questions
- How can it be free without ads?
The free plan has limits: 1 GB per video, 20 GB on the shelf and 10 downloads a month. People who need more pay for Pro, from €5 a month.
- Does streaming lower the quality?
Videos play from a streaming version of up to 1080p. A download gives you the video in full quality, without its hidden data.
- Can I take my videos with me?
Yes. You can download every video you uploaded, and your own uploads never count toward the monthly download limit.
