protected links
Video links with a password, or for one person only
Anyone who gets hold of an ordinary link can open it. When that isn't good enough, tie the link to one person's email, put a password on it, or both.
A link for one person
When you make a temporary link, tick “Only for one person” and enter the email address of the person it's for. We email them the link. It opens only with a one-time code sent to that address, or right away if they're signed in to tapeshelf with it. Forward the link to someone else and it won't open for them. This works on every plan.
A password on the link
On Pro you can protect a temporary link with a password. Tell the person the password some other way, in a call or a different app. If the link is also for one person only, they'll need both the code and the password.
It still expires
A protected link is still a temporary link: it works for an hour, a day, two or three days or a week, and you can revoke it in “My links” at any time. More about expiring links
No file to pass around
People watch an encrypted stream, and the player never gets a link to the file, so there's no address to copy and post somewhere else. Downloading is a separate step, open to whoever opened the link. Nobody can stop a person who is allowed to watch from filming their screen, and we don't pretend otherwise. What we promise and what we don't
